Concrete polishing is the process of transforming the look and integrity of an existing concrete surface. We accomplish this by opening the concrete surface by grinding the concrete to your desired level of aggregate exposure, or, in other words, how much or little rock/gravel you wish to see in your finished floor (see examples of aggregate exposure in the gallery below). Keep in mind that your options for aggregate exposure may vary depending on the condition of your existing concrete. Existing concrete slabs that have more imperfections (ie. cracks, low spots, tripping hazards…) will likely need a more aggressive grinding thereby exposing more aggregate. Once your aggregate level has been accomplished the polishing process begins in which we smooth out the surface “scratches” that occur in the grinding process and bring the surface to your desired sheen and light reflection. Densification is a step within the polishing process in which we add a blend of sodium silicate to ground, opened concrete, adding strength and durability.
